All photos are taken under daylight and Short Wave Ultraviolet (I use a Super Bright brand light). If your light is more than a few years old, the item may look bluer than it looks here.

An unusual group of calcite stalactite crystals from Wensham, Yunnan Province, China. The calcite fluoresces white SW and pale yellow-green LW and has a yellow-green phosphorescence. It weighs 15.5 oz. and is 3.4 x 3.2 x 2.6 inches. $80.00, item #1579

 

A beautiful, faceted, round-cut opal from Lightning Ridge, NSW, Australia. Opals are rarely faceted as they are harder to properly cut and don't mount well with prong settings. This beauty weighs 1.05 ct. and is 7.2 mm. $90.00, item #107 (RESERVED 5/8/13) Rare & Gemmy - A crystal of herderite on a feldspar crystal from Shigar Valley, Skardu district, Pakistan. Herderite fluoresces violet SW & LW and the feldspar fluoresces pale blue SW. There is a coating of a crystalline mineral (quartz?) on the feldspar that is reducing its fluoresce. Herderite was named for Siegmund A. W. Von Herder (1776-1838), a mine official. It weighs 9.8 oz. and is 3.0 x 2.3 x 1.8 inches. $120.00, item #1210 (RESERVED 5/6/13)

 

Fluorite, willemite and calcite from Castle Dome mine, La Paz County, Arizona. Fluorite fluoresces bright violet LW & SW, willemite fluoresces green SW, & calcite fluoresces red SW. It weighs 8.0 oz. and is 3.0 x 2.8 x 1.7 inches. $46.00, #187 Large magnetite crystals with fluorapatite (embedded on other crystal) from the Noble pit, Sterling Hill mine, Ogdensburg, Sussex County, NJ. The apatite fluoresce orange SW. It weighs 8.0 oz. and is 2.5 x 1.8 x 1.7 inches. $15.00, item #2005

 

Aragonite & fluorapatite from the Noble pit, Sterling Hill mine, Ogdensburg, Sussex County, NJ. The piece weighs 8.0 oz. and is 2.4 x 2.2 x 2.5 inches. $12.00, item #2023 Salmon calcite with a dot of barite from the Sterling Hill mine, Ogdensburg, Sussex County, NJ. The calcite fluoresces orange-red SW & the barite fluoresces white SW. It weighs 11.5 oz. and is 3.7 x 2.9 x 1.7 inches. $20.00, item #2022

Fluorapatite crystals, galena crystals, & calcite from the Noble pit, Sterling Hill mine, Ogdensburg, Sussex County, NJ. This area is now buried. These were covered in sticky, black manganese mud and were picked clean with a dental tool. The fluorapatite fluoresces orange SW and the calcite fluoresces orange-red SW. The piece weighs 13.7 oz. and is 3.4 x 2.7 x 2.3 inches. $18.00, item #2024
